Bassist and composer Charlie Haden was a musician who tried out a wide variety of formats and styles throughout his career. He seemed to have a particular penchant for duos with high-profile and completely different partners since the mid-1970s. “Night And The City” was the third in a series of duo projects Haden did for Verve in the 1990s. He can be heard here with the great pianist Kenny Barron in an intimate tête-à-tête.
