The music on this album is one of the last recordings by the great Django Reinhardt. Shortly after recording these sessions, he died unexpectedly on May 16, 1953, at the age of 43. The quartet recording was made by the French company Blue Star, but produced from across the ocean by Norman Granz, who released it in the United States on his Clef label. It was to be the beginning of an intensive collaboration between Django and Granz, which unfortunately never materialized.
